In addition to writing Smart Family Tips, I provide proofreading, copy editing and blog set-up services.

I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and spent 13 years grading and editing the writing of high school juniors and seniors. I’ve also done editing work for a small-town political campaign, annual performance reviews, Barron’s study guides, countless academic papers, and one book.

Proofreading Services

I will carefully proofread your material, correcting spelling, punctuation and grammar errors. I will also look for accidental omissions and will highlight areas that are unclear or redundant. Proofreading is the final polish on a piece work.

Rate: $5.00/standard, double spaced 300 word page

Copy Editing Services

In addition to proofreading, I will also make suggestions and corrections to wording. I will address awkward phrases and suggest alternate word choice where needed. I will also focus on sentence structure, organization and the overall “flow” of your writing. Copy editing will improve your manuscript beyond the basic proofreading details.

Rate: $8.00/standard, double spaced 300 word page

Interactive Services

If you need a bit of coaching along the way, either to help you work through your ideas or to “talk” through the direction your manuscript will take, I also offer email consultations to go along with my copy editing services. I will make myself available to you for 5 email exchanges within a 30 day period to guide you in the writing of your material.

Rate: $50 one-time fee in addition to the per page rate above.

Blog Set-Up

If you’d like to blog, but don’t know how to get going, I can help. Blogging software is easy to use once everything is set-up and ready to go. For only $9.95/month you can have excellent, green hosting for your site through Hostgator (the hosting company I use here on Smart Family Tips).

If you’re willing to purchase your hosting through my affiliate link (you won’t pay any more for the hosting, but the commission I make will help offset the low fee I’m charging), I can get your blog up and running, including:

◊ Completely set-up, ready to go blog, with the free theme of your choice

◊ Necessary plugins installed for ease of use and security

◊ Email support for 2 weeks as you learn to navigate WordPress
